Happy Decoration Weekend!!

Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, began after the American Civil War to honor fallen soldiers. The first national observance was on May 30, 1868, when Union veterans decorated the graves of their comrades with flowers. Over time, the holiday expanded to honor all U.S. military personnel who died in service, especially after World War I.
In 1971, Congress officially established Memorial Day as a federal holiday, observed on the last Monday of May. Today, it is marked by ceremonies, parades, and moments of remembrance, including a national moment of silence at 3 p.m.. While it remains a solemn occasion, it also signals the unofficial start of summer in the US.
Lynne Greene Interiors would like to thank you those who served and the families of those we have lost.
