Five Interior Design Trends for 2020

A new year brings new interior design trends,… or in some cases, old trends that are new again. As you plan your interior design changes this year, you may want to include some modern elements. Here are some interior design trends for 2020 to keep in mind.

Eco Design

eco friendly interior design trendsEco design is growing in popularity as the world continues to be more environmentally conscious. There are many ways to incorporate eco design.

  1. Add indoor plants.
  2. Select recycled materials.
  3. Opt for products made with natural materials and fewer toxins.
  4. Use insulating products that reduce electric and heating expenses in your home.

Eco-friendly interior design is not only good for the environment, but also creates a healthier home and saves you money.

Wood Paneling and Accents

When you think of wood, you probably picture the dark wood paneling sheets from the 80’s. Wood is making a comeback, but in a more modern fashion. Adding wood slats to ceilings can add depth to a large space. Wood accent walls can set the tone for a room whether painted in white or some other trendy color. There are many different ways that wood can be incorporated into interior designs to create a modern, rustic, or country feel.

Deep Hues

We seem to go back and forth between colors and neutral tones. Well, we’re back to colors again, but in moderation. Bursts of color and deep hues are now the trend. Add color to your interior design with accent walls or furnishings.  Pops of color can balance out a space and provide much needed warmth and intrigue.

Creative Seating

Another of the interior design trends for 2020 is creative seating. Seating is important for every room and we never seem to have enough of it. So, it’s time to get creative. Think about window seats, chairs and sofas of different colors and shapes, convertible seating that adapts to different uses, hidden seats that appear when you need them, etc.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper is back, but with a twist. Similar to color, wallpaper should be selectively added to your rooms. Rather than covering an entire room, select an accent wall or place it behind a bookcase. Additionally, consider custom wallpaper to make your home truly unique.
